Hello, nice to meet you my name is Amy and I’m the host of the Mile after Mile podcast. Thank you for stopping by.
I’m an avid runner and a slightly obsessed long-course triathlete. What I lack in speed I make up for in enthusiasm for the sports I love.
I think the best feeling as an age group athlete is to discover that what you do inspired somebody else to do something that was important to them. As a beginner distance runner I personally was inspired and motivated to attempt to run a marathon because of the runners who I had seen finish as a child watching the NYC marathon finish line. When I went after the goal of running a marathon myself I think I succeeded because I surrounded myself with people who had already done it and could show me the way.
As my goals got bigger I would search and find people who were doing more and more amazing things. Regular people who inspired me to shift my own idea of what I was capable of to include my new goal. One day just riding a bike clipped in was success – a few months later riding 30 miles was normal, a few months later even longer. When I wondered if I could do something (like complete an Ironman) I would pull one of these stories out of my memory and I would think – okay, I can do this. Along the way without meaning to I was mentally building a repertoire of inspiring stories that kept me going.
The Mile after Mile podcast is my way of sharing these stories with anybody looking for motivation, inspiration and of course, entertainment.
I hope you’ll give it a listen. I hope you find the interviews motivating and enjoyable. Please drop me a note through a comment or on Facebook or Instagram to let me know what you think.
I’d love to hear from you and I respond to all comments (except spam … obviously).
If you want to know more about me personally – I do have another website where I maintain my personal training information and all the other stuff I do. You can find it at www.amysaysso.com
